What you’ll do

  • Design and assess wireless paths, including line of sight, signal strength, interference, antenna placement, and frequency planning.
  • Commission and optimise links using licensed microwave, millimetre wave, free-space optics, and other wireless technologies.
  • Build Python tools to monitor link performance, automate device control, and speed up fault diagnosis.
  • Integrate radios, amplifiers, controllers, and power systems using SNMP, serial/TCP connections, and vendor APIs.
  • Investigate live incidents, coordinate field repairs, and turn findings into better monitoring and network design.
  • Work on the supporting infrastructure, including fibre connections, DWDM, exchange cross-connects, and precision timing.
  • Coordinate new sites, vendors, and field crews, and plan changes to live networks.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong practical Python , Linux , and Git experience, alongside networking fundamentals such as routing, multicast, Ethernet, and VLANs.
  • You’ll also need hands-on RF knowledge: link budgets, spectrum analysis, interference, and antenna systems.
  • Experience with tools such as Grafana, Icinga, Splunk, ClickHouse, Docker, or Kubernetes would be useful, as would familiarity with telecom licensing and site development.
  • The role involves travel to towers, rooftops, and data centres, plus participation in an international on-call rotation. It would suit someone who enjoys building tools as much as solving complex problems on a live network.
