Job Description
SystemsAccountants is partnering with a high-growth technology company to hire a Tax Systems Engineer. This is a foundational hire on a small Tax Technology team within Finance Systems, and a rare chance to shape how tax technology scales alongside a rapidly expanding business.
This role is the technical backbone of the tax function. You will design and build the integrations, tooling, and production code that connect tax systems to ERP, billing, CRM, EPM, and data warehouse platforms, so that every revenue and purchasing flow is taxable and auditable from day one. Working closely with the Tax Technology Lead, you will partner with Tax, Finance, IT, Data, Billing Engineering, and Product to translate tax and business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
The scope spans the full tax landscape, including indirect tax, corporate income tax and provision, withholding, R&D credits, and transfer pricing. Over time, the role will take on increasingly ambitious work, including using AI to automate tax processes end to end and building internal products that give the tax team self-serve access to data, calculations, and evidence.
Design, build, and support integrations between tax systems and ERP, billing and invoicing, CRM, EPM and FP&A, data warehouse, and other business-critical applications
Own tax-related changes within the billing environment and the connection between billing and the tax engine, including withholding tax considerations
Lead technical delivery of an AP tax engine implementation across ERP-connected purchasing flows, covering data migration, integration pipelines, parallel-run reconciliation, e-invoicing, and go-live validation
Build and maintain interfaces using APIs, middleware, integration platforms, and file-based methods
Develop tax-specific tooling for indirect tax reconciliations, provision and research credit data pipelines, transfer pricing datasets, withholding tracking, and exemption validation
Build SOX-aware controls on tax data flows, including control totals, source-to-target tie-outs, and evidence pipelines that hold up to external audit
Troubleshoot data discrepancies, integration errors, and performance issues across systems
Serve as technical owner through vendor implementations, from build through post go-live support
Maintain clear documentation of system architecture, interfaces, data mappings, and integration processes
Help establish best practices for integration architecture, monitoring, testing, and support as new products and jurisdictions come online
