Job Description
Derby Copeland Capital is a New York City–based private equity real estate investment and lending platform founded in 2015, focused on originating and structuring middle-market debt and equity investments across the capital stack. The firm originates, owns, and services first mortgages, mezzanine loans, preferred equity, and direct equity investments, and operates a vertically integrated platform with in-house property management and construction capabilities.
This position offers direct exposure to the construction and draw process, requiring a candidate who can balance financial precision with a technical understanding of project development. This is an in-office role based in New York City (five days per week).
The cover letter should detail your general experience, specific familiarity with the loan servicing or construction draw process, and why you are a fit for this integral role.
Construction & Draw Management: Review and process construction draw requests, verifying budget alignment, lien waivers, and third-party inspection reports.
Monitor project budgets and “sources and uses” to ensure loans remain “in balance” throughout the lifecycle of the development.
Escrow Administration: Manage and reconcile interest reserves, tax, and insurance escrows.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Credit and Asset Management teams to transition files from closing to active servicing.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in loan servicing, commercial real estate, or construction finance preferred.
A solid understanding of the construction draw process and basic construction terminology is highly preferred.
Financial Literacy: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking budgets and loan schedules.
Strong verbal and written skills for professional interaction with borrowers and site inspectors.
Discretionary bonus and benefits.
